History of Trap

1990'S


  • Trap the term actually refers to the places of where there was just drug dealing and how hard it was to escape the lifestyle.
  • And this term originated in Atlanta, Georgia where there was really tough times.
  • Most of the  rappers to first use this term in their music came from their for e.g Cool breeze, Dungeon Family, Outkast and etc.
  • At this time rappers like cool breeze, Master P, and Ghetto mafia, were actually the first to bring in the trap or the drug life into the music.
  • A man called David complex said that that genre of music is a place, but the term was then used to describe how the music was in that place.
 2000's


  • During the early 2000's to the mid 2000's, that genre was starting to get recognized, after all the other albums that covered this genre had success.
  • Southern rappers such as that had a past of drug dealing , such as : rick ross, T.I, young Jeezy, had started to do their on tracks to try and spread this type of music
  • Trap songs were becoming big hits as radios and talk shows started to play a lot of this music.
  • It was becoming a huge success.
  • But it did not stop here
